Anxiously waiting
Days went by, and Elizabeth didn’t hear anything. She waited anxiously for the moment Mr. Thomas would call, and then he did. Elizabeth fumbled with her phone as she answered. “And, and, and?!” she asked, her voice both hopeful and curious. Mr. Thomas’s voice was very calm when he delivered the news. The adoptive parents had agreed to meet with Elizabeth. A wave of relief washed over Elizabeth, but her heartbeat quickened.
