Inside were copies of every return form filled out by Sadie’s previous owners. Kate flipped through them carefully, reading note after note of complaints.
They varied in detail but all echoed the same strange pattern. Sadie was destructive, Sadie escaped, and Sadie returned smelling like fish. Kate placed the stack onto her desk, her curiosity burning hotter than ever.
