Hearing outside noise
She had just started observing the sketches when a sudden noise outside startled her. The dog heard it, too, and barked sharply before running to the door. Kate’s heart pounded as she peered out through the small window. A figure was moving through the woods, heading toward the cabin. Panic set in, but she forced herself to stay calm. Whoever it was, they hadn’t noticed her yet. Sketches were dropped, and Kate hid in a corner of the room.
