Saying goodbye
Bruno barked softly as if urging her to trust Daniel. Kate pocketed the map and took a deep breath. “I don’t know what’s happening, but I trust you and will follow you,” she said kindly to the cheerful dog. Daniel smiled faintly before returning to the woods. Kate stood in the cabin, ready for the final part of her journey. Daniel said it was nearby, so she eagerly stepped back into the forest.
