June broke the silence first, her voice trembling but filled with warmth. “Yes, Kate, it’s me. I’ve missed you so much,” she said, stepping forward cautiously. The sound of her voice broke through Kate’s paralysis, and she reached out instinctively, pulling June into a tight embrace. “I thought I’d never see you again,” Kate whispered, her voice cracking. The two sisters held each other as the years of pain and separation began to melt away.
