Ahmed let out a long, weary sigh as he described what had followed. The crew had decided to make an example of him, to erase him entirely. They dragged his container to the edge of the ship, casting it into the open sea. “They wanted me gone, forgotten,” he said, his voice breaking. The very space he had been forced to call home was destroyed in an instant, along with any safety he’d had left.
