Disbelief
Matthew shook his head. “They look like puppies,” he argued, voice rising. The vet solemnly shook his head, as if Matthew simply didn’t understand. The whole situation felt surreal. His mind raced. Was the vet mistaken? Or were the puppies really something else? He wasn’t ready to accept the vet’s bizarre claim.
