At the front desk, Matthew quickly asked for the vet, his voice laced with urgency. The receptionist glanced at him before shaking her head. “I’m sorry, but the vet is unavailable for the rest of the day,” she said calmly. Matthew clenched his fists in frustration. How could the vet simply disappear after all that had happened?
