Assistant’s Exit
Matthew’s heart pounded as he quietly pushed the ajar door open and slipped inside. The room was dark, illuminated only by the soft glow of a computer monitor. It appeared to be an office, with stacks of files and papers covering a desk. He noticed a ledger lying open, but before he could investigate further, he heard the door creak. He froze as the assistant entered, humming softly, unaware of Matthew’s presence.
