A bit of hesitance
Everyone surrounding the captain was curious; there was no problem with that. But nerves to find out firsthand what was inside were definitely a factor among the crew.
So when nobody answered within the first few minutes, there was no other choice. Straws needed to be drawn to see who would become the first explorer inside. They determined that it would be a two-man job.
