Desperate for help, Jack reached out to private investigators. Most listened politely but shook their heads once they heard the details. “Too risky,” one said, sliding his card back across the table. Another leaned in and whispered, “If it’s what I think, it could be organized crime. Don’t poke the bear.” Jack left each meeting feeling more alone.
