Far from relief

Jack finally pulled into his driveway, relieved to be home at last. The garage door whirred open, its familiar hum a small comfort against his racing mind. As the car rolled inside, he exhaled a shaky sigh, grateful nothing had gone wrong on the road. Yet even as he parked and shut off the engine, that strange, nagging unease refused to leave him. The house was quiet, but deep down, Jack knew something wasn’t right.
