Jack’s frustration broke through his fear. “Someone is spying on me, and I want to know why. Are you going to tell me, or should I call the police?” His voice was steady, though his fists tightened at his sides. The man didn’t answer right away. Silence filled the hall like a suffocating weight. Jack knew he was playing with fire, but retreat wasn’t an option. Not anymore. He had pushed too far.
