Jack’s voice trembled. “My wife? That’s impossible.” The man’s eyes didn’t waver. “She’s been working with us for nearly a year—for her safety and yours.” Jack staggered back, struggling to breathe. “She tracked herself?” he asked. The man exhaled slowly. “Yes. Because she isn’t who you think she is. Alice has been undercover, helping us bring down someone very dangerous.” The words struck Jack like a hammer, leaving him reeling.
