Low battery
With careful fingers, Jack detached the strange device, prying it free from the underside of the car. Holding it in his palm, he turned it over slowly, his skin prickling. A small screen flickered weakly, displaying a low battery warning. That explained the blinking light—but not the bigger question. Who had put it there, and why? His unease deepened as he realized this wasn’t random. Someone had been watching—and maybe even following—him for days.
