Trying to put it behind them
Jason and Emily pushed aside the tension that clung to them like fog. They were determined to make the most of the day. Together, they packed their hiking gear—water bottles, snacks, a flashlight, and a small first aid kit. The sky was bright and cloudless, and the morning air was fresh. Emily managed a smile. “It’s going to be a great day,” she said. Jason nodded, though last night still weighed on him.
