Jason wasn’t immune either. Near dawn, he woke to use the bathroom. Careful not to disturb Emily, he tiptoed across the creaking floorboards.
As he reached the bathroom, he froze. A prickling sensation spread across his neck. The room felt wrong, as though someone had just left moments earlier. He hesitated, then stepped inside, trying to shake the feeling.
