A hidden hatch
Together, they leaned against the tall stack and pushed the machines aside. And when they did, they found a hidden hatch beneath. Jason and Emily sighed after seeing it and then went on to open the wooden hatch, revealing a crawlspace with a filthy mattress, food wrappers, and an old water bottle underneath. “He’s been here the whole time,” Jason whispered. The realization hit hard. Beneath their feet, a stranger had lived undetected.
