Their cautious footsteps echoed loudly against the cave walls. The space narrowed at first, the ceiling lowering slightly, before widening again into a broader corridor. Shadows danced along the walls as Jason’s flashlight moved with him. He looked back at Emily. “If he’s in here, we need to find him before he finds us.” Emily nodded, clutching her pocketknife more tightly. “I don’t like being at a disadvantage,” she admitted softly.
