Watching him
Jason could feel something—someone—watching him as he peeked inside. He hesitated a moment before gripping the doorframe, ready to step inside.
And when he did, he did so with a large step, instantly ending up in the middle of the open space. It was dark, and Jason needed his phone’s flashlight to see his surroundings.
