Step into the light
Right after Emily spoke those fearful words, movement came from the shadows. A rugged man stepped slowly into the light cast by Jason’s flashlight. “Stay right there!” Jason shouted, raising his voice. Emily quickly pulled the knife from its holster and held it up in front of her. They were both visibly on edge, but to their surprise, the man didn’t act aggressive. His demeanor was calm, collected, and strangely non-threatening.
