Extending a hand
Jason and Emily stood up, finally shedding some of the fear that had gripped them throughout their bizarre and tense encounter. Kevin extended his hand. Jason reached out and shook it firmly. “Thank you,” Kevin said, his voice sincere. “For listening. For believing me.” Emily gave a soft smile, her eyes kind. “No one deserves to lose their home like this,” she said, her voice gentle but full of conviction.
