A hatch
With the washer and dryer gone, they saw an empty space behind it. It wasn’t large, about three by four feet.
But it was large enough to hold a hidden hatch in the floor beneath them. Jason’s heart pounded. “What the hell?” Emily gasped. Dust covered the edges, but the handle was clean.
