The Cave Entrance

Emily’s voice trembled as she called Jason over. Behind the falling water, a narrow crevice gaped in the rocks. Jason pressed a hand against the damp stone, running his fingers along smooth edges worn by touch. “This isn’t natural,” he muttered. With a sharp inhale, he led the way, squeezing past the crashing water into darkness. Emily followed, her heart hammering. Together, they stepped into a cave that seemed to stretch endlessly into shadow.
