Jason called out again, his voice steady. “We just want answers! You left us a message. We came to talk.” Again, silence.
Emily’s grip on her knife tightened. Her eyes darted around, scanning every shadow. Jason exhaled sharply. “Maybe this was a mistake.” Emily bit her lip. “What if he jumps us?”
