His body tensed as he took another cautious step forward, making him enter the hallway beside his bedroom door. To reach that point in his house, though, John had to open the door to his bedroom, and when he did, he heard the sound above him react to it instantly. The timing was chilling, too perfect to ignore. Whatever was up there, it knew he was moving beneath it.
