To the Rescue

Almost on cue, another vehicle rolled up behind them. A white van with Wildlife Rescue Unit painted across the side parked in front of the house. Two officers stepped out—one with a clipboard, the other with a tranquilizer gun slung over his shoulder. Their calm, practiced movements reassured John. Still, his pulse quickened as they approached the car. “You’re the homeowner?” one asked. John nodded. “We’ll take it from here.”
