A Struggle

For a moment, nothing changed—then the bear surged upward, towering on its hind legs, nearly brushing the attic ceiling. Its roar shook the house, and John’s heart hammered as he clutched the steering wheel tighter. But slowly, the sedative began to work. The bear swayed, movements sluggish, before collapsing back down heavily. The officer whispered, “It’s working.” Relief flickered, but the tension remained—the team still had to move it.
