A Shared Laugh

Mark clapped him on the shoulder. “Wildest night of your life, huh?” John gave a half-laugh, still trembling. “No kidding.” One officer added with a smile, “Check your attic windows next time. Wildlife always finds the weakest point.” Despite the tension, John chuckled, realizing how close he had come to disaster. The danger had passed, but the memory of growls overhead would haunt him far longer than he expected.
