Cleaning out his locker
Each item he placed in a small cardboard box. His coffee mug. His flashlight. The notes students had written him over the years—“Best Janitor Ever!” and “You’re Awesome, Mr. Bill!” He folded them gently, placing them on top. But when he closed the locker door, something behind him made him tense up.
