Before her time

She slid the lid off and pulled free a thick family photo album. The first pages were filled with old black-and-white prints, faces long gone. Sepia followed, time etched into every crease and edge. Emma turned page after page, scanning carefully. She recognized many faces—most belonged to her grandmother, her beloved hero from childhood. Emma smiled faintly through a rising tear. “I loved her so much,” she whispered softly, brushing her thumb over the fading images.
