She opened a drawer and began rifling through the labeled vials, scanning each name carefully. “Edgar Oakley… come on, where are you?” she muttered under her breath. Minutes passed until her fingers froze on the label she sought. There it was—the blood sample she had drawn earlier that day. Heart racing, Emma retrieved the vial and carefully measured out exactly five milliliters, the amount required to perform a proper DNA test in the laboratory.
