Oxygen tanks, which provided breathable air throughout the entire research facility, were also damaged by the sudden pressure of rushing water, so they lost oxygen quickly. Their diving suits were useless too, since they were connected to those same oxygen tanks with 20-meter-long cables. They needed to get to the surface, to safety. So, only one solution remained.
