By late morning, the vessel moved slowly into position above the survey site. The team lowered the sonar unit over the side while Matt monitored the data feed in a small control room. He watched grainy outlines form across the screen—valleys, ridges, silt beds. Then something strange appeared: a long, rectangular shape sitting flat against the seabed, partly buried in sand.
