On the third day, Emily suggested taking the boat out farther from the bay. A rental guy named Win told them about a calm patch just past the outer reef. “You’ll be alone out there,” he said, handing them the map. “Real quiet. No noise.” Jake nodded, already imagining how peaceful it would be. The couple set off before noon.
