Passing the correct points

The captain slowed whenever Jake gave directions. Finally, the moss-covered statue appeared on the horizon, tall and unmistakable. Jake stood, pointing. “There—that’s where we turned yesterday.”
Soon, the jagged coral reef broke the surface. Jake nodded, heart quickening. “That’s it. We’re close.” Everyone leaned forward, anticipation building heavily in the warm silence of the boat.
