Curious and creepy
Curiosity overcame his fear. Elliot grabbed a flashlight and tiptoed into the hallway. The house had changed. Shadows seemed longer, and each step he took felt heavier. He passed the study, now darker than before, and made his way toward the staircase leading down. The noises seemed to be coming from beneath the house—possibly from the cellar or foundation level.
