A projector

The moment Elliot stepped through, lights flickered awake overhead. Dust spiraled down like snowflakes in the sudden brightness. Then came a mechanical whirring sound, sharp and insistent.
A projector mounted above him stuttered to life, its beam carving through the haze and stretching across the wall. Elliot’s throat went dry. Something—or someone—was about to speak.
