The next morning, Elliot stood at the edge of the dock as June arrived, eyes wide when she saw him. “You alright?” she asked. Elliot nodded slowly. “Yeah. Just needed to understand a few things.”
When he returned home, he sat his parents down and told them everything—about Walter, the house, the truth. They listened quietly, their faces filled with love and guilt.
