Slowly Opening
The handle was colder than expected, metal biting into his skin. He pulled gently, the hinges letting out a groan that echoed down unseen depths. Beyond the frame stretched a spiral staircase, narrow and claustrophobic, twisting into darkness. His pulse raced as he leaned forward, staring down the descent. Somewhere below, the house was hiding more.
