Frustrated, the caretakers considered physical relocation—but that idea was quickly shelved. Forcing her away could be traumatic. Orangutans, especially mature ones like Mara, were sensitive to stress. And whatever she was sitting on clearly meant something to her. Ben suggested building a temporary fence around her, but Mara never let any caretaker come close enough to start such a build. They needed her to move on her own.
