The setup begins
Rosa crouched behind the nighttime enclosure’s shadowed wall, clutching the small plastic remote. She gave Ben a silent nod. He crouched lower, eyes fixed on Mara’s position. She was still in her usual spot, unmoving, her hulking form resting heavily in the dirt. Rosa placed the tiny wheeled mouse on the ground and flicked the switch. Its red light blinked. Then, ever so slowly, it rolled forward.
