The vet arrived quickly. He examined the baby, lifting it gently. “She’s healthy,” he confirmed. “No injuries. A little dehydrated. But clearly someone’s been feeding her. Probably bits of fruit Mara could reach.” Rosa nodded. “But she also needs milk.” Ben motioned toward the back room. “We have formula. From the last rescue case.” Moments later, they offered the bottle. The infant drank deeply.
