Mara’s orangutan troop soon adjusted to her new role. They watched her from the fence, sometimes curious, sometimes indifferent. But they no longer challenged her space. It was as if they understood this was her choice. Her mission. And with time, even the more dominant males stopped trying to call her back. Mara had found something more important than group games or daily climbing.
