Around the corner, Morgan spotted a narrow window at floor level, glass cracked but unbroken. He tugged off one boot, revealing the steel plate fixed beneath its sole. Shielding his eyes, he drove his heel into the glass. It shattered loudly, scattering fragments inward. He kicked clear the jagged edges until the frame was open enough. Bending low, Morgan peered inside cautiously, flashlight cutting through the dim room beyond.
