They descended cautiously into a stairwell, metal steps moaning beneath their boots. Each level sank deeper into damp, chilled air. Pipes stretched overhead, dripping condensation rhythmically into puddles. This deck no longer felt like a leisure vessel; it resembled an industrial belly, functional and cold. Morgan’s flashlight revealed a faded sign bolted crookedly: “MAINTENANCE – CREW ACCESS ONLY.” He raised his hand toward it, nodding. “This way,” he ordered, leading them deeper below.
