The Name That Remained

One unusual detail stood out sharply in the photos. A name—or at least half of one—remained visible, painted in large block letters across the hull: “ARMAS.” The remaining portion was long gone, erased by saltwater, storms, and time. It matched no currently active liners in service. “Could’ve been retired decades ago,” someone suggested. “Or maybe it was never registered properly to begin with.” None of the explanations being offered gave much comfort or certainty.
