Something is terribly wrong

Andrew’s breath came fast as he watched the display. This wasn’t aggression—it was desperation. The reindeer tossed its head, made short, guttural sounds, and stomped the ground as though calling out. Its dark eyes flashed toward the tree line again and again, filled with urgency. The creature that had moments ago accepted him was now frantic, almost pleading. Andrew whispered into the empty street, voice trembling. “What’s wrong? What are you trying to tell me?”
