Extra set of eyes

Andrew sensed it immediately—something wasn’t right. His body stiffened, instincts warning him. He was being watched. His companion wasn’t the only one in the clearing anymore. Then, from the shadows of the forest, figures emerged. Dozens of them. Reindeer. Not one, not five, but an entire herd. Their dark shapes filled the clearing, stepping out from the trees with their antlers glinting faintly in the dying light.
