Eye Contact

The animal was enormous, thick muscles shifting beneath its coat, and its antlers rose like a tangled crown of wood. Andrew’s breath caught as the reindeer’s dark eyes fixed on him, unblinking and steady. For several seconds neither moved, the world around them eerily still. Then, with slow, measured steps, the reindeer started forward. Every instinct screamed at Andrew to run, but deep down he knew that would be a terrible mistake.
