At last, they reached the top. Andrew’s legs burned from the climb, but the sight before him instantly stole his breath. The reindeer stopped beside the waterfall’s edge, and Andrew stepped forward cautiously. Here, water should have been thundering past them, rushing toward the valley below. Instead, what met his eyes was something unnatural—an enormous dam, a wall of treetrunks bound together, reinforced with glinting beams of metal.
